Lake View Defeats East Clarendon 49-44 for First Win of Season

Lake View’s Wild Gators earned their first win of the season on Wednesday, December 12, as they defeated the visiting East Clarendon Wolverines 49-44.

East Clarendon took a 10-8 lead in the first quarter and both teams added 11 points in the second to give the Wolverines a 21-19 lead at half-time. But the Wild Gators returned in the third to outscore the Wolverines 12-8 and take a 31-29 lead. Lake View kept up the pressure in the fourth, outscoring East Clarendon 18-15 to claim the win.

Darius Leonard led the Wild Gators with a game-high 25 points and Chris Ford added 12 in the win. Reco Brown scored seven points for Lake View, and Jamal Ford and Jeremy Moody each added two points with Corenthious Brunson adding one.

East Clarendon was led by J. Harrison with a team-high 18 points; M. McFadden, 8; M. Ham, 7; M. Elmor, 6; T. Benjamin, 3; and M. Floyd, 2.

On Friday, Lake View hosted Aynor in their second meeting of the season and fell 61-38 to the visiting Blue Jackets. The Wild Gators are now 1-4 in the regular season, with all four losses coming from Class AA opponents.

Lake View will host East Clarendon again tonight at 6:00 p.m. for the final game before the holiday break. The Wild Gators will begin region play when they return to the court against the Flashes on Tuesday, January 8, at 6:00 p.m. in Johnsonville.
