Lady Warriors Drop Two Before Holidays

Dillon Christian School’s Lady Warriors earned two losses just before the holidays, falling 42-25 to Low Country Prep and 34-15 to Florence Christian in girls basketball action.

The Warriors traveled to Pawleys Island to take on Low Country Prep on Friday, November 16. The Lady Marlins jumped out to an early 12-6 lead by the end of the first quarter and had widened it to 27-10 by the half. In the third, the Marlins outscored DCS 8-4, and despite an 11-7 rally from the Lady Warriors in the fourth quarter, Low Country Prep finished on top, 42-25.

Lauren Lee and Amanda Bass each scored three two-pointers for the Warriors and Kathryn Brown sank one. Lee sank seven of 12 free throw attempts and Bass sank four.

Lee and Brown each picked up eight rebounds, with Bass and Makalai Sweat each grabbing four. Kylee Sullivan grabbed two defensive rebounds and Caroline Shelley, Great Seay, and Sarah Fitzgibbon each picked up one. Bass made a team-high five steals and two assists, with Sullivan making three steals, Brown stealing once, and Lee and Sweat stealing twice.

On Tuesday, November 20, the Warriors were back home to host Florence Christian. The Eagles took a commanding 14-2 lead in the first quarter and widened it by outscoring the Warriors 10-8 and 8-0 in the second and third. The Warriors went 5-2 in the fourth for a final score of 34-15 and their third loss of the season.

Lauren Lee scored one three-pointer and one two-pointer in 22 attempts, and Kathryn Brown sank one two-pointer in seven attempts. Lee scored on six of eight free throw attempts, and Kylee Sullivan scored two of four free throws.

Sullivan also picked up a team high six rebounds, with Lee, Brown, and Makalai Sweat each grabbing four. Alex Lane and Caroline Shelley each picked up two, and Emilie Martin and Sarah Fitzgibbon each grabbed one. Sullivan, Brown, and Sweat each made two blocks, and Lee blocked once. Brown made two steals, and Lee, Sullivan, Sweat, and Martin each stole once.

The Lady Warriors slip to 1-3 with the losses as they head into action again tonight against New Prospect beginning with junior varsity boys action at 5:00 p.m. The Dillon Christian boys team will also be in action tonight, and will participate in the Trinity Tournament this Friday and Saturday.

Boys and girls varsity and junior varsity teams will be at Carolina Academy on Tuesday, December 4, and all four teams will be at home on Friday, December 7, to host Williamsburg Academy with action beginning at 4:00 p.m.
