Volleyball Playoffs: Branchville Defeats Johnsonville, Advances to State Championship

After sweeping both Latta and Lake View in previous rounds, Branchville swept Johnsonville on Wednesday, October 31, to claim the Class A Lower State Championship. Branchville swept with scores of 25-14, 25-14, and 25-18.

The lady Yellow Jackets will square off against upper state champion St. Joseph’s on Saturday, November 3, at 11 a.m. for the Class A state title. St. Joseph’s claimed the upper state title by sweeping Fox Creek 25-8, 25-11, and 25-15.

In Class AA, Chesnee defeated Andrew Jackson for the upper state title, while Bishop England swept Waccamaw 25-18, 25-13, and 25-11 for the lower state title. Chesnee and Bishop England will battle for the state title at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

North Myrtle Beach swept Airport for the Class AAA lower state title and will face Pickens on Saturday at 3:30 for the state title. Pickens defeated Chapin 3-1 on Wednesday for the upper state crown.

In Class AAAA, Aiken battled Wando to a 3-2 finish with scores of 23-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, ad 15-13 to claim the lower state championship. Aiken will take on Hillcrest on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. Hillcrest defeated Rock Hill on Thursday night for the upper state title.

All state volleyball championship games will be played at White Knoll High School on Saturday, November 3.
