The Dillon County Historical Society is sponsoring its second tour of historical churches in Dillon County on October 6 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on October 7 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.

There are 13 historic churches on the tour. Many are over 100 years old and some are over 200 years old. Some of the churches have cemeteries near the churches. Maps to help locate the churches and brief descriptions of each church’s history will be available at any church listed below on the days of the tour. They are also available now at the Dillon County Chamber of Commerce Office in Dillon, and in the Dillon, Lake View, and Latta Libraries.
The following churches are participating:
In the country, near Hamer: Kentyre Presbyterian, Hazy Grove Baptist
In the country, out from Latta: Catfish Creek Baptist, Dothan Bethea Family Methodist
In the country, out from Little Rock: Carolina Presbyterian, St. Paul’s Methodist on Harllee’s Bridge Road
In Dillon: St. Barnabas Episcopal, Main Street Methodist, Manning Baptist, St. Louis Catholic
In Latta: Latta Presbyterian, Latta Baptist
Between Dillon and Lake View, off of Highway 9: Pee Dee Presbyterian
These churches look forward to having visitors and sharing the historical background and dedication of members which has led to each church surviving and being a treasure in Dillon County.
