Lula Manning

Lula Deere Bass Manning, born August 17, 1920, daughter of the of the late H.H. Bass and Sallie Bass (Carmichael), died early Sunday morning, September 23, 2012. She is predeceased by her sister, Sara Bass Gibson, brother, C.G. Bass, and son, Howard “Bubba” Manning. “Miss Lula” is survived by her son, Robert H. “Bo” Manning III; grandchildren: Virginia Randolph “Randi”  Manning, Howard McIntyre Manning (Jennifer), Robert H. “Bert” Manning IV and one great-grandchild, Hannah McIntyre Manning (Howard). She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
“Miss Lula” attended Agnes Scott College, graduated from USC and received her Master of Education from Francis Marion University. She worked in the Marion School District as Supervisor of the Special Education Program until her retirement. “Miss Lula” enjoyed participating in community activities, such as the Latta Beautification Committee. Visitation will be held at Richardson Funeral Home, Monday, September 24, from 7:00-9:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Bass Cemetery, Tuesday, September 25 at 11:00 AM.
