Local Dillon Resident Receives Second Award From The A.E.A.O.N.M.S.
Past Potentate Kenneth L. Smith, of Dillon, received his second Potentate of the Year Award from the Desert of Western Europe for the year ending 2011 at this year’s Annual Desert of Western Europe Gala Day Convocation in Germany while serving as the sitting Illustrious Potentate for Taharka Temple #207, Oasis of Kuwait, Desert of Western Europe.
His Temple, Taharka Temple #207, also won the Temple of the Year Award for the second year in a row.
In 2010, not only did he receive the Potentate of the Year Award, but his Temple won the Temple of the Year Award, the Noble of the Year Award, and the Deputy of the Oasis of the Year Award, all at that same Gala Day Convocation.
This was the first time in the history of the Desert of Western Europe that a Potentate received the award back-to-back and the first time in Western Europe’s history that a Temple won all of the awards presented at a Gala Day.
Last year in Atlanta, Georgia, Past Potentate Smith received his 33rd and Last Masonic Degree, the Grand Inspector’s General, GIG.
He is married to Annie J. Smith, who is also involved in Masonic Affairs.
