Keith Wayne Dean, 64, died at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC, Wednesday, August 22, 2012. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Main Street United Methodist Church in Dillon, SC with interment in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church prior to the service. Kannaday Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mr. Dean was born on June 17, 1948, in Harrisonburg, VA, the son of Otis Shacklette and Eula Mae MacDonald Dean. He held multiple upper management positions at Paperboard in Latta, SC, and after retirement he was the owner and operator of Dean’s Catering Service. He was a member of many organizations: Life member of the NRA, Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Past President of the Dillon County Rifle and Gun Club, Boy Scouts of America, and the Chamber of Commerce. He was a recipient of the Dolph Braddy Award and Industrialist of the Year for Dillon County. He was an active member of Communties in Schools, on many church committees, and the Booster Club of Avalon Academy.
Mr. Dean is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; sons, Nicholas Phillip(Maurine) Dean of Latta, SC, Jonathan Coleby Dean of Dillon, SC, and Justin Sloan (Jennifer) Evans of Dillon, SC; brother, Gregory (Sue) Dean of Harrisonburg, VA; nephews, Josh and Matthews Dean; niece, Janelle Dean; grandchildren, Katie Evans, Lucas Dean, Kelsey Hester, Chase Hester, and Parker Sports; and many friends and loved ones.
