James C. “J.C.” Coward, 70, of Summerville, passed away Friday afternoon, June 15, 2012, at Trident Medical Center.
Funeral service was held Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial followed at Magnolia Cemetery, Latta, SC. Friends visited at the funeral home from 10 o’clock until the hour of service.
Mr. Coward was born October 10, 1941 in Latta, SC, son of the late Bernice Leroy Coward and Louise Coleman Coward. He attended Latta High School. He served in the United States National Guard. He was a member of the Men’s Club and the Berkeley Squares Square Dancers. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and retired from Meade Westvaco as a machine tender.
Loving father of one son and two daughters: James C. “Jody” Coward, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona, Cheryl V. Kubowicz (Ken) of Jacksonville, Florida and Erin L. Coward of Goose Creek, one grandson: Ryan Kubowicz of Jacksonville, Florida, one sister: Bernice Coward (Marion) of Dillon, SC. He was predeceased by his brother: Bud Coward.
