Final Baseball and Softball Polls Released

The final South Carolina Baseball and Softball Coaches polls of the season have been released. Dillon’s Lady Wildcats took second and Latta’s Lady Vikings finished third in their classes, while the Dillon boys finished sixth and Lake View and Latta took eighth and ninth.

In softball, State champions Palmetto topped the Class 2A polls, rising from fifth place overall. Dillon, who finished runner-up in the state, remained at second place. Gilbert finished third and Crescent finished fourth, while Hanahan reappeared in the top 10 in fifth place.

Andrews rose from 10th to sixth, and Andrew Jackson fell from the top spot to seventh place. Woodruff finished eighth, Swansea ninth, and Aynor rounded out the top 10.

In Class A, state champ Chesterfield took the number one spot, while Abbeville fell to number two. Latta, who finished as the state runner-up, rose from seventh to third place. Landrum finished fourth, Green Sea-Floyds took fifth, and Fox Creek rose from ninth to sixth.

East Clarendon fell to seventh, Ninety-Six fell to eighth, and Johnsonville reappeared in the top 10 for ninth place. McBee and Blacksburg tied for tenth.

In the baseball polls, Gilbert, Hanahan, and Palmetto claimed the top three spots in the Class AA polls. Bishop England and Strom Thurmond took fourth and fifth, with the Dillon Wildcats claiming sixth.

Pendleton, Marion, Swansea, and Emerald rounded out the top 10.

In Class A, St. Joseph’s, Chesterfield, Lamar, Ninety-Six, and Bamberg-Ehrhardt finished as the top five. Johnsonville was ranked sixth, with Abbeville in seventh.

Lake View finished in eighth place, with Lewisville in ninth, and Latta rounding out the top 10 in the state.
