Palmetto’s Lady Mustangs got another 1-0 win over Dillon’s Lady Wildcats on Wednesday night to claim the Class AA State Softball Title.
Palmetto’s Ryan Rector scored the Mustangs’ only run in the bottom of the second inning, getting to base on a single, advancing from first to third on a bunt, and scoring on a wild pitch. The Wildcats left nine runners on base, loading the bases twice before being done in by Palmetto pitcher Tabitha Allen.
The Wildcats ended the season with a 27-5 overall record and the Lower State Championship.
Tonight, Latta’s Lady Vikings are scheduled to host Chesterfield in game two of the Class A State Softball Championships. The Golden Rams swept the first game 7-0. The game is set to start at 6:00 p.m.
If a third game is necessary, it will be played on Friday at South Florence at 7:00 p.m.
