Playoff Update: Gators, Wildcats Fall, Lady Wildcats Win

Saturday’s playoff action saw both the Dillon Wildcats and Lake View Wild Gators fall in the first round of lower state baseball, while Dillon’s Lady Wildcats defeated Andrews to advance to the winners bracket.

BASEBALL

Despite two home runs, Lake View’s Wild Gators weren’t able to get past Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Saturday as they fell 9-4 to the Red Raiders. Lake View will host Lamar tonight at 6:00 p.m. for a chance to stay alive in the playoffs.

Dillon fell 7-1 to Bishop England on Saturday, with Jamie Callahan getting his first pitching loss of the season. The Wildcats will host Marion tonight at 6:00 p.m. in an elimination match.

SOFTBALL

Dillon’s Lady Wildcats defeated Andrews 2-0 on Saturday to advance to the winners bracket in the Class 2A Lower State softball playoffs. Dillon will host Hanahan tonight at 6:00 p.m., with the loser facing either Aynor or Andrews on Wednesday.

As previously reported, Latta’s Lady Vikings defeated Johnsonville 5-1 on Friday night to advance in the Class A Lower State playoffs. Anna Rogers pitched a complete game, allowing only two hits, while Tori Grimsley had two hits and an RBI for Latta. The Vikings will host Green Sea-Floyds tonight at 5:30 p.m.
