Lake View’s Herlong Named Head Coach for 2012 SC Select Baseball Team

Lake View’s head baseball coach Kip Herlong has been named the head coach for the 2012 South Carolina Select Baseball Team by the South Carolina Coaches Association.

Herlong has been teaching for 21 years and is in his nineteenth year as head coach of the Wild Gators. His record is 385-96 with twelve region champions and seven state championships.

He was named High School Sports Report’s Region Coach of the Year four times, and Statewide Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2006, and was named the SCBCA’s Statewide Coach of the Year in 2001. He has also served as assistant coach for the North-South All Star game and was head coach in 2006.

Herlong also coaches JV football for Lake View, and serves as the youth director at Marion Presbyterian Church and as the advisor for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Lake View High School.
