Vikings Swamped by Raiders in Playoffs

After shutting out Hannah-Pamplico’s Raiders 9-0 on Thursday, the Latta Vikings fell 6-1 to the Red Raiders of Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Saturday in the Class A District V playoffs.

Latta scored seven runs in the bottom of the first against Hannah-Pamplico on Thursday, and added one run each in the fifth and sixth innings for the 9-0 win. The Vikings had nine hits and two errors in the win, while the Raiders had just one hit with two errors.

Latta’s Jeremy Jenkins picked up the win, pitching three innings, allowing just one hit with two outs. Ryan Mays took the loss, pitching 2/3 of an inning for two hits, seven runs, three earned runs, and three walks.

Brandon Lane led the Vikings at bat, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Josh Bowen went 2-for-3.

On Saturday, the Vikings traveled to Bamberg to take on the Red Raiders and fell 6-1. Details of the game had not been reported at press time.

The Vikings were 17-6 overall as they headed into Monday night’s game against Hannah-Pamplico. The Raiders defeated Cross on Saturday to stay alive in the playoffs.
