Vikings Down Raiders 15-2

The Latta Vikings downed the Raiders 15-2 on Wednesday, April 11, in varsity baseball action at Hannah-Pamplico.

Latta got off to a 4-0 lead in the first, adding three runs in the second, five in the third, and three in the fourth to lead 15-0. The Raiders scored their only two runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game at 15-2.

Kyle Arrington picked up the win for the Vikings, pitching all five innings for four hits, two runs, two earned runs, three walks, and nine strike outs. Hannah-Pamplico’s Whilt took the loss, pitching two innings and allowing eight hits, seven earned runs, and a walk.

Donell Stanley led Latta at bat, going 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs. John Kever Love went 2-for-3, and Travis Power and Lenneau Berry each went 2-for-2. The Vikings had 15 hits in the win.

Hannah-Pamplico had four hits and four errors in the loss.

Latta’s overall record improves to 13-4 while they maintain a 6-2 record in Region 8-A to put them in third place as the season heads towards playoffs.

The Vikings were scheduled to host Carvers Bay on Monday, and played Hemingway at home on Tuesday. On Friday, April 20, the Vikings wrap up the season against local and region rivals the Wild Gators at Lake View at 5:30 p.m. Make plans to attend to support our local teams!
