Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators added a 10-8 win over Marion and an 11-1 win over Mullins last week in softball action.
The Lady Gators traveled to face the Swamp Foxes in Marion on Wednesday, April 11, and came home with a 10-8 win.
Kayla Sanderson was the starting pitcher, and Morgan Herlong came in at the fourth inning for the win. Sanderson allowed three hits, four walks, two earned runs, and one error with one out. Herlong struck out four with five hits, four errors, two walks, and one earned run.
At bat for Lake View, Sanderson went 2-for-5 with four RBIs; Chelsea Spivey went 2-for-3 with two RBIs; and Kateland Cox went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
On Thursday, the Lady Gators hosted Mullins on Thursday, April 12, and downed the Lady Auctioneers 11-1 in five innings.
Mullins started the scoring in the top of the first with their lone run. Lake View responded with a run in the bottom of the inning to tie things 1-1. The Lady Gators brought in three runners in the bottom of the second to take a 4-1 lead, but neither team could cross the plate again until the bottom of the fifth, when Lake View scored seven runs to end the game 11-1.
Morgan Herlong picked up the win, pitching all five innings for just two hits, one run, one earned run, one walk, and one out. Janelle Brantley took the loss for Mullins, pitching all five innings for seven hits, 11 runs, eight earned runs, three walks, and three outs.
Lake View’s Amber Locklear and Ashley Rogers led the Lady Gators at bat. Locklear went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Ashley Rogers went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. The Gators had seven hits and one error in the win.
Kayla Jackson led Mullins at bat, going 1-for-2 with an RBI. The Lady Auctioneers had two hits and four errors in the loss.
Lake View is now 10-8 for the season and 4-4 in Region 8-A. The Lady Gators are fourth in the region, with Green Sea-Floyds in first, Latta in second, and Johnsonville third.
Lake View returned to region action on Monday night when they were scheduled to take on Johnsonville. On Friday, the Lady Gators will host Latta for their final region game of the season, and on Monday, April 23, Lake View will host South Robeson to wrap up the regular season.
