King Commits to USC

Dillon’s Bryce King verbally committed to play for the University of South Carolina on Saturday after the Gamecocks’ spring game.

The 6-foot-3, 293 pound Wildcat is a four-star recruit and can play either tackle or guard. He is the second Wildcat to verbally agree to play for USC, joining DJ Park, who committed to the Gamecocks in January. The two juniors won’t be able to sign a letter of intent until February 2013.

King had offers from Clemson, LSU, N.C. State, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech as well as USC, and was also getting interest from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia Tech, and East Carolina. King visited Tennessee in November.

Among King’s honors, he has been named All-Region several years in a row, WPDE’s All Zoneman in 2011, and he was named to the High School Sports Report’s All-Rookie Team for the 2010 season. He was one of four Wildcats who participated in the National Under Armour Combine in December 2011.

King says he grew up as a fan of the Gamecocks and always wanted to play for them. He said he came to his decision during Saturday’s game. “It just felt like home,” he said, “and it is where I want to be.”
