The Latta Vikings took down the Green Sea-Floyds Trojans 8-1 in Green Sea on Tuesday.
Latta got off to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and added three runs in the second and one in the third to lead 6-0. The Vikings added one run each in the fifth and sixth innings, while the Trojans got their only run in the bottom of the sixth.
Latta’s Travis Power got the win, pitching six innings for six hits, one run, one earned run, two walks, and eight outs. Sam Ward took the loss for the Trojans, pitching two innings for four hits, five runs, two earned runs, a walk, and two outs.
Donell Stanley led Latta at bat, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Josh Bowen went 2-for-3 and Lenneau Berry went 2-for-4 for the Vikings.
Holden Clark hit a solo home run for Green Sea-Floyds to prevent the shut out. He went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Latta improves to 12-4 overall and 6-2 in Region 8A.
The Vikings were scheduled to travel to take on Hannah-Pamplico on Wednesday and will be back at home to host Carvers Bay on Monday, April 16, at 5:30 p.m.
