Lake View Sweeps Creek Bridge in Double Header

Lake View’s Wild Gators swept a double-header with Creek Bridge on Thursday night at home in Lake View.

In game one, the Wild Gators won 11-0 in three innings. Lake View earned one run in the first and 10 in the second to end the game early on the mercy rule.

Darius Leonard picked up the win on the mound, pitching a no-hitter and striking out all nine batters he faced.

Brody Smith went 2-for-2 at bat with two runs, a double, and an RBI. Nate Lewis went 1-for-1 with an RBI and two runs scored; Hunter Walters went 1-for-2 with an RBI and one run scored; Leonard went 1-for-1 with two runs scored; and Roger Scott went 1-for-1 with an RBI.

Chris Ford, John Michael Brown, Steele Mendenhall, and Stone Spivey each scored one run for the Gators.

Creek Bridge’s Hucks took the loss on the mound, pitching two innings for 11 runs, six hits, four earned runs, and four walks.

In game two, Lake View defeated the Warriors 12-0. The Wild Gators scored seven runs in the first and five in the second to claim the win.

Steele Mendenall pitched two innings for Lake View for one hit and two walks, striking out four of nine batters faced. Cody Johnson pitched one inning for the Gators, walking one and striking out two.

Mendenhall went 1-for-1 at bat with three RBIs and one run scored. Duane Nichols went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and one run scored; Peyton Cox went 1-for-1 with two RBIs and one run scored; Luc Newell went 1-for-1 with an RBI and two runs scored; Roger Scott went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored; Jamie Smith went 1-for-2 with two runs scored; and Stone Spivey went 1-for-3 with one run scored.

Brent Herlong and Justin Elliott each scored one run in the win.

Creek Bridge’s Finkley went 1-for-2 to lead the Warriors at bat. Finkley took the loss on the mound, pitching two innings for eight hits, 12 runs, seven earned runs, five walks, and one out.

The Wild Gators improve to 5-2 in Region 8A.

Tonight the Wild Gators travel to Latta to take on the Vikings at 5:30 p.m. The Vikings are both local and region rivals, with a 5-1 record in the region. Make plans to attend to support our local teams.

The Wild Gators will be at Carvers Bay on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Lake View will be back at home on April 3 to host Hemingway.
