Lady ’Cats Defeat Mullins 13-0, Waccamaw 9-1

Dillon’s Lady Wildcats picked up two wins last week as they shut out Mullins 13-0 and downed Waccamaw 9-1.

On Tuesday, March 20, Dillon traveled to Mullins and swept the Lady Auctioneers 13-0. Taylor Price pitched all five innings and allowed just one hit while striking out eight of 16 batters faced.

Da’Kerhia Samuel and Shayna Covington led at bat, with Samuel going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and one run scored, and Covington going 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored. Rebecca Callahan went 1-for-4 and picked up four RBIs; Tara Grimsley went 1-for-3 with three runs scored; Lillie Celmer went 1-for-2 with a double and one run scored; and Darby Hamer went 1-for-4 with one run scored.

Leah McMillan scored two runs for Dillon, and Ma’Kayla Drake and Taylor Price each scored one.

In the field, Leah McMillan made five put outs, and Price and Covington each made one. Covington made two assists, and Callahan, Hamer, price, and Samuel each made one.

On Friday, the Lady Wildcats hosted Waccamaw for a 9-1 win over the Warriors.

Dillon scored two runs in the first to take an early lead, and Waccamaw scored their only run in the top of the second. Dillon added one run in the third, and picked up two in the fifth and four in the sixth to seal the 9-1 win.

The Wildcats had a total of 15 hits in the game, while Waccamaw had six hits and one error.
Darby Hamer picked up the win on the mound, pitching four innings and allowing three hits, one run, one earned run, and three walks. She struck out two. Waccamaw’s Butler took the loss, pitching four innings for seven hits, three runs, and three earned runs.

Shaquailla German led the Wildcats at bat, going 3-for-3 with two runs runs and four RBIs. Ma’Kayla Drake went 3-for-3 and Rebecca Callahan went 3-for-3 with a double, and Shayna Covington went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

The Wildcats are now 9-0 overall and 4-0 in Region 8-2A.

Tonight, the Lady Wildcats are scheduled to travel to face Aynor, and on Friday they’ll be back at home to host Loris at 6:30 p.m. Make plans to attend to support our local team!
