Lady Warriors Finish Season with Loss to Eagles

Dillon Christian School’s Lady Warriors were eliminated from the SCISA Region 4-AA playoffs on Thursday as they fell 63-32 to the Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles.

The Eagles outscored the Warriors in every quarter with scores of 16-8, 16-5, 18-12, and 13-7, with Tori Johnson leading the charge with a team-high 19 points. Mary Gregg added 12 and Hannah Martin earned 10, followed by Taylor Herrington with seven points, and Heather Gibson with six. Abby Gregg, Jennifer Smith, Meg Webster, and Kaitlin Estes each added two points, and Karlee Dozier earned one in the win.

Lauren Lee earned 19 points to lead the Lady Warriors, with Kylee Sullivan and Amanda Bass each earning four, Emily Prutzman scoring three, and Kathryn Brown adding two.

Lee sank three of 12 three-point attempts and went 6-for-7 on free throws, making four steals and three assists and grabbing two rebounds. Lee made 25 three-pointers this season and went 76-for-156 on free throws to lead the Warriors with a season-total of 241 points. Lee also made 66 steals, with 31 assists and six blocks, grabbing 61 rebounds.

Sullivan sank two of seven two-point attempts with two rebounds and one steal. Sullivan made a team-high 32 assists this season with 30 steals and 96 rebounds. She added 79 points for the Warriors with 31 two-point goals and one three-pointer, going 16-for-34 on free throws.

Bass also sank two two-point goals and made a team-high 10 steals, with one assist and two rebounds. Bass was the second highest scorer this season with a total of 137 points, including 10 three-point goals and 43 two-pointers, going 21-for-51 on free throws. She made 25 assists this season, grabbing 46 rebounds with a team-high 74 steals.

Brown sank a two-pointer and one of two free throw attempts, grabbing four rebounds and making one assist. Brown earned 40 points for the Warriors this season and went 16-for-34 in free throw attempts. She was second in rebounds, grabbing a total of 157 while making 18 steals and 14 assists.

Senior Emily Prutzman was 2-for-4 on free throw attempts with a team-high 10 rebounds, with one block and two steals. Prutzman finished the season with a record 275 rebounds, including 97 offensive rebounds and 178 defensive rebounds. She made 19 steals and seven assists, picking up 65 points for the Warriors.

Senior Courtney Miller finished the season for the Warriors with a total of 35 rebounds and eight steals.

The Lady Warriors ended the season with a 3-21 overall record and a 2-12 region record in SCISA 4-AA.

Over the weekend, Pee Dee Academy continued on in the playoffs, taking on Williamsburg Academy. The Eagles trailed 25-14 at half-time, but outscored the Stallions 33-12 in the second to move on to the finals. Marlboro Academy edged The Byrnes School, holding the Trojans to just two points in the fourth quarter for a 30-29 finish. The Marlboro Academy Dragons and the Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles were scheduled to face off on Monday for the region title.
