Lady Wildcats Take 5th in Tournament

Dillon’s Lady Wildcats finished in fifth place at the Little Caesar’s Invitational basketball tournament held the week of December 27.

In their first round game, Dillon fell to South Florence 60-58 in overtime.

Dillon’s Chelsea Frazier led all scorers with 33 points. Khadejhia Sellers scored nine, Briana Lee added eight, and Na’Kedra Page earned four, with Kedisha Davis and Jessica Swindler each adding two and Shayna Covington and Tara Grimsley each sinking one.

Briana Kelly led South Florence to victory with a team-high 20 points and 18 rebounds, with Shakeyla Harley adding 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Bruins. Shaniqua McCants also scored 15 points, with Ashley Briggs earning five, Barnes scoring one, and Wanay Williams and Bethany Wilder each adding two.

Dillon earned a 62-48 second round victory over Conway in the second round on Wednesday, December 28.

Chelsea Frazier led Dillon with a game-high 24 points along with five steals. Khadejhia Sellers added 16 points and 10 rebounds, with Briana Lee earning seven points, Shayna Covington adding six, and Kedisha Davis netted three. Na’Kedra Page, Tara Grimsley, and Jessica Swindler each earned two points in the win.

Bri Steele led Conway with 18 points and 10 blocks. Danielle Langley added 10 points, Tierra Spain earned nine, Sierra Griffin scored six, Miko Johnson added four, and Alexis Sarvis sank one in the loss.

The Lady Wildcats wrapped up the tournament in fifth place with a win on Thursday, December 29, defeating Darlington 63-55.

Chelsea Frazier scored 35 points with five steals to lead the Wildcats in the win. Khadejhia Sellers added 14 points in the win, with Shayna Covington earning four and Na’Kedra Page scoring three. Kedisha Davis, Briana Lee, and Jessica Swindler each added two points in the win.

Jessica McCall led Darlington with 29 points, followed by Shalandra Willis with 11. Heidi McNeil and Torri Smith each earned four points, Jada Richardson scored three, and Deanna House and Cierra McCullough each added two.

The Lady Wildcats are currently 10-3 this season.
