Dillon – Floyd Townsend died November 23, 2011 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Dillon, SC with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, November 25, 2011 at Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon, SC, the family will recieve friends at other times at the home of Jackie and Luther Townsend.
Mr. Townsend was born in New York, New York, July 28, 1939, the son of the late Forrest Sheldon and Mary Smalec Townsend. He was a graduate of Dillon High School and Clemson College. He served in the U. S. Army and in the National Guard. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He was employed by Westinghouse Electric in his early career as an Electrical Engineer and later retired from Engelhard Corporation.
He is survived by his brother-in-law Ed Byszynski of Warrenton, NJ; niece, Mary Lou (Joe) Carr of Warrenton, NJ; many, many cousins; one special cousin, Gilbert Townsend of Dillon, SC, and a special friend, Leneza Karpenski. He was predeceased by his sister, Violet T. Bysznski.
