Football Playoffs Continue Friday with Championships on the Line

The chase for a state title is still on for many teams throughout South Carolina this Friday, with several teams battling for the lower and upper state titles.

In Class A Division II, Lake View will be taking on Timmonsville at Timmonsville for the lower state title, while Christ Church will host Williston-Elko for the upper state title. The winners will move on to the state title championship match at Benedict College in Columbia on Friday, November 25, at 3:00 p.m.

In Division I, Bamberg-Ehrhardt will host Hemingway for the lower state title. Hemingway eliminated Carvers Bay 21-6 and shut out Burke 28-0 on the way to the lower state championship game. In the upper state, Abbeville will host Chesterfield to decide who moves on for a shot at the state title.

In Class AA, schools will be battling through their third round to determine who will advance to the lower and upper state championships, with Dillon hosting Swansea and Hanahan hosting Timberland in the Division I lower state bracket. In the upper state, Woodruff will host Cheraw and Strom Thurmond will host Emerald.

Class AA Division II will see Central hosting Chesnee and Columbia hosting Carolina in the upper state bracket, while Bishop England will host Marion and Silver Bluff will host Mullins. Marion received a first round bye and defeated Andrews 41-14 in round two, while Mullins shut out Academic Magnet 47-0 and defeated Woodland 18-14 to move to round three.

Class AAA will also see teams taking on their third round of playoffs with Fairfield-Central at South Pointe on Friday and York at Daniel. In the lower state bracket, AC Flora will host Cane Bay and Myrtle Beach will host Bluffton to determine which teams move to the lower state championship game on November 25.

In Class AAAA, Division I, teams will be facing their second playoff round. In the upper state, Gaffney will host Dorman and Dutch Fork will host Boiling Springs. In the lower state, Byrnes will host Summerville and Wando will host Blythewood.

In Division II, Goose Creek will host Northwestern and North Augusta will host South Florence. In the lower state bracket, Greenwood will host Easley and Ashley Ridge will host Stratford.

The Class AAAA matches Boiling Springs at Dutch Fork and South Florence at North August games will be broadcast by the SCHSL on cable and on SCHSL.tv.
