Jacqueline “Jackie” Hardy Elmore

Jacqueline “Jackie” Hardy Elmore, 58, passed away Monday, October 10, 2011, after a long and incredibly determined battle with cancer.
Jackie was born in Dillon on October 25, 1952. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Hardy and Jacqueline Allen Hardy, of York.
Jackie enjoyed a long career in banking, serving as a bank teller, customer service representative, manager of a call center and also developed many training programs. She worked with First Citizens Bank, First National Bank of SC, which merged into SC National Bank that merged into Wachovia Bank. She finished her career at NBSC in Columbia as an Assistant Vice President of Resource Development. Throughout her career, she cared very deeply about providing the very best service, product or training that was assigned to her. She was very much a banking professional.
Jackie was also a loving wife and mother, well known for her abundant family dinners, where every detail was planned and executed with great care and attention to details. She enjoyed cooking and looking for new recipes to share with her family and others. She was also known for her accomplished talent of tying bows and gift wrapping, even sharing her talents with the public when she worked at Parisian department store. She made every holiday or birthday celebration special. Among her many loves in life, she loved animals, especially her two cats, Salem and Shadow.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Elmore; son, Brian Elmore; daughter, Kristen Elmore, all of Columbia; her sisters and their spouses, Josephine “Jo” Burke (Ken) of Lafayette, Louisiana; Emily “Pud” Branch (Crockett) of Florence, Pat Ballard (Jim) of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Ann Lee (Eddie) of York.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2011, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Columbia, corner of Bull Street and Blanding Street, with a visitation at the church to follow. Burial services will follow at 4:00 p.m. in Dothan Cemetery, Dothan Road, Dillon, S.C. where Jackie will be buried with her father. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or the March of Dimes, S.C. Chapter ATTN: Kathy Douglas, 240 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC 29210, which were among Jackie’s favorite charities.
