Michael Wayne “Mikey” Brogdon, III, 16 died Friday, August 5, 2011 at his home as a result of Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy. Mikey was born May 16, 1995 in Marion, a son of Michael Wayne Brogdon, Jr. and Jeannie Britt Brogdon. He was a student and an honorary soldier of the National Guard’s 4th Battalion, 118th Infantry Regiment. Mikey attended Open Door Independent Baptist Church. Surviving Mikey in addition to his parents of the home are: a Brother: David Mann Brogdon of the home; a Sister: Sable Brogdon of the home; his Grandparents: Mickey and Gail Brogdon, Nell Britt and David Kidney; his Great Grandparents: Essie McCormick and Eva Brogdon; his Great Uncles: Lonnie McCormick and Harvey Britt; his Uncle: Leon Brogdon; many other uncles and aunts; 2 Special Cousins: Caitlin McDade and Tara Lewis; many other cousins; his Godfather: Jason Cooke and Family; and a Special Friend: Anna Jackson. Mikey was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Melvin Mann Britt and a cousin, Marty Britt. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, August 9, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, August 13, at Open Door Independent Baptist Church, with Rev. Scott Bass officiating.
