Dillon’s Dixie Belles, Dixie Ponytails Claim State Titles

After delays created by thunderstorms on Wednesday night, Dillon Dixie Belles and Dixie Ponytails took the field to claim their respective state titles.

The storms pushed the start of the games until after 11:00 p.m., with the championship games wrapping up shortly after midnight.

In the Ponytails division, Dillon defeated Florence and will be heading to the Dixie Ponytails World Series in Pineville, Louisiana, to face Mississippi’s West Jasper on July 30.

Dillon’s Belles defeated Georgetown to claim their state title, and will be headed to South Hill, Virginia, for the first round of the Belles World Series. They will be facing Georgia’s Baldwin County on July 30.

The Dixie Darlings state title went to Hanahan, with Hartsville claiming the Dixie Angels championship and Turbeville winning the Dixie Debs tournament.

Meanwhile, the Dillon Dixie Boys 15-16 baseball team is headed to Greer, South Carolina, to play in the Dixie Pre-Majors State Tournament. The first round was scheduled for Saturday, July 16, with Dillon facing Westminister at 10 a.m. in the eight-team double elimination tournament.

And back home, Dillon will be hosting the Dixie Boys Machine Pitch and Coach Pitch State Tournaments beginning on Saturday, July 16, with the Dillon Coach Pitch team scheduled to face Midland at 2:15 p.m.
