Four people were arrested in a home invasion last week, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
Arnette said that at about 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to Cattle Farm Road in reference to a burglary.
Two homes had been burglarized and deputies soon learned that some of the suspects left in a vehicle while one had entered the woods.
Additional officers responded.
A description of the vehicle went out, and a vehicle fitting the description was located on Cattle Farm Road. Three individuals were taken into custody, one of whom was a juvenile.
Jason Ray Goins, 22, 101D Henry Street, Latta, and Devante Deshawn McNeil, 18, 300 East Willis Street, were charged with burglary. A juvenile was also arrested and sent to DJJ.
Law enforcement was also looking for a fourth suspect who had entered the woods. The SLED helicopter and bloodhound team were called in to assist. The manhunt lasted for nearly 13 hours in the extreme heat.
Participating in the manhunt in addition to SLED were the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, the Dillon Police Department, the Latta Police Department, the S.C. Highway Patrol, and the Fourth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
At about 2:15 a.m., the fourth suspect, John Dean Andrews, 19, 87 Ireme Dr., Lumberton, NC, was captured on Henry Street in Latta by the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and the Latta Police Department. He is also charged with burglary.
Arnette said he would like to thank everyone who participated in the manhunt for the assistance they provided.
