• Dillon County Rifle and Gun Club to Sponsor “First Shots”

Dillon County’s Rifle and Gun Club and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) will be hosting First Shots: An Introduction to Shooting, a free hands-on seminar about the sport of rifle shooting.

Participants in the seminar will also be able to shoot a rifle for the first time at the club’s range.

The event will be held on Saturday, June 11, at 1330 Haymount Road, Latta, at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

• Latta High to Hold Cheer Camp

Latta High School will be holding a cheerleading camp on June 13, 14, and 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The camp will be open to 4K – 6th grade students.

Cheer camp participants will learn new cheers; practice basic acrobatic skills and cheer motions; learn new dances, chants, and basic cheer dance steps; develop crowd involvement; and participate in snack and game time.

Parents will be invited to attend on June 15 at 11:20 a.m. to see the results of the three day camp.

• Coker College to Hold Baseball Camp

Coker College will be hosting their annual Skills and Drills Summer Baseball Camp beginning June 13 through June 17 at the Coker College Baseball Complex. The camp consists of five sessions held from 9:30 a.m. until noon, and will be devoted to pitching, hitting, bunting, and base running.

The camp is open to players age 6-17. Participants will need to provide their own bat and glove. All other equipment will be provided by the camp, and each participant will receive a camp t-shirt.

There is a registration fee for each camper. Parents are invited to attend and go through the instruction with their child at no extra cost.

• Sixth Annual Raymond Felton Basketball Camp

Former Latta High player and current Denver Nuggets guard Raymond Felton will be hosting his sixth annual Basketball Camp from June 13 to June 16 at Mullins High School in Mullins, South Carolina.

The camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day and is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 17 years old. The primary goal of the camp is to help youth develop the fundamentals of basketball while also teaching life skills.

• Subdistrict Softball Tournament

The City of Dillon Recreation field will be hosting a double elimination girls softball subdistrict tournament beginning June 20 at 6:00 p.m.

Fourteen 15U and 12U teams will be participating, including Dillon, Latta, Lake View, Marion, Mullins, Cheraw, Marlboro, Pamplico, and Darlington. Concessions will be available.
