Honored For Academic
Achievement
CHARLESTON – The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, honored the following cadets and active duty military students for academic excellence during the fall semester of the 2010-2011 academic year. Dean’s List recognition is given to those students registered for 12 or more semester hours whose grade point ratio is 3.2 or higher with no grade below a C for the previous semester’s work. In addition, some students received a Gold Star for achieving a 3.7 grade point average or higher. An asterisk denotes Gold Star recipients.
Students inlcude are: Joshua Bonner Funderburk, Lugoff, Major: Civil Engineering; * Richard Quentin Gaddy, Latta, Major: Biology. Gaddy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gaddy; * Arthur Buist Jordan V, Dillon, Major: Biology. Jordan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Art B. Jordan IV; Edwin Hunter Jordan, Dillon, Major: Pre Business Administration. Jordan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jordan; and * Thomas Myers Jordan Jr, Dillon, Major: Biology. Jordan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jordan.

Latta Native Named
To Dean’s List
Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi, is proud to announce that Brenton M. Carter of Latta recently was named to the Dean’s List.
Carter is the son of Ralph and Susan Carter of Latta.
Mississippi College School of Law’s origins extend to the Jackson School of Law which was acquired by Mississippi College in 1975.
Since then, the Law School has grown in prominence as a regional law school whose 530 students come from 30 states and 100 undergraduate schools to study at its high tech campus in Jackson.

Charleston Southern
Releases Dean’s List
Charleston Southern University congratulates the following local students on being named to the Dean’s List for fall semester 2010. Local students include Marty Clark of Dillon and Anna Pierce of Latta.
In order to be named to the Dean’s List at Charleston Southern, students must have taken at least 12 credit hours (earned) and have a 3.5 grade point average or above for that semester.

Wofford College
Announces Dean’s List
SPARTANBURG (readMedia)—Dr. David S. Wood, senior vice president of academic affairs and dean of Wofford College, has announced the Dean’s List students for the Fall 2010 Semester, including: Sara Nabil Khalil of Dillon, Kensley Rogers Mincey of Mullins, and Blakely Angela Wise of Marion.
To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must be enrolled for at least 12 semester hours of graded courses and attain a semester grade point average of 3.6 or higher.

Dean’s List For Fall 2010: Shorus E. Manning, Dillon. To be named to the Dean’s list, students must have earned a 3.5 or better GPR. Students also must have completed 12 semester hours to letter-grade courses for the semester.

Owens Named
To Columbia College’s
Order Of The Purple
Seal Society
Fifty-eight students at Columbia College were named recently for membership in the Order of the Purple Seal, a national honor society organized in 1855 to foster the ideals of solid scholarship. Membership is limited to juniors and seniors who have a cumulative 3.50 grade point average for four full-time semesters.
Columbia College uses the 4.0 grade point scale. The local student was Hillary Owens of Dillon.

Announced
President Caroline Whitson of Columbia College announces students who were named to the president’s list and the dean’s list for fall semester 2010.
Students who have a grade point average of 4.00 on the College’s 4.00 grading scale are on the president’s list.
The local student is Amber Goodwin Meekins, wife of Garrett Meekins of Dillon, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael E. Goodwin of Dillon, president’s list.
