Local Author Releases Two New Books

Michelle Buckman, past columnist for The Dillon Herald, announces the release of her two newest novels, Rachel’s Contrition and Death Panels.

Death Panels is a futuristic novel that Buckman wrote back in 1994 but just recently sold to Saint Benedict Press/Tan Books. The story is set in 2042 at a time when Christianity is all but outlawed, the Unified Order of the World has the upper hand and character David Rudder goes on the run to save an innocent Down syndrome baby from being put to death.

Rachel’s Contrition is the story of Rachel, a woman suffering from grief-spawned delusion after the death of her daughter. She has lost her husband, her home, and custody of her son. Help arrives from two unlikely sources: a troubled teen named Lilly and a tattered holy card depicting Saint Therese of Lisieux. As Rachel grows closer to Lilly, unbidden memories from her edgy past reveal fearful mysteries of seduction, madness and murder.

Locally, both books are available at Herald Office Systems.
