Glove And Trowel Garden Club Members Enjoy Christmas Social

The Glove and Trowel Garden Club held its annual Christmas Social and Dinner Party on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 7 p.m. at St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church Parish House.  Present were sixteen members and eleven spouses.  Co-Chairmen for this festive event were Dawn Arnette and Julie Hatcher.  Serving on the steering committee with them were Marilyn Zunk, Ditto Jenkins, Eulalia Cranford, Ivy Pope, Rosemary Bethea, Fay Sloan, Suzanne Lewis and Julie LeChette.  The tables were beautifully decorated with bronze lanterns, fresh greenery, berries, gold ribbon, and ornaments.  A large arrangement of greenery with red poinsettias in a black wrought iron basket was the centerpiece for our buffet supper.
After a period of fellowship, Ivy Pope, President welcomed everyone, especially our husbands who were our guests, and called on Reverend Dr. John O. Bumgardner, Jr. to offer our blessing.  After a covered dish dinner prepared by members, Dawn Arnette presented President Ivy with a beautiful tall, handmade bird house in appreciation for her service to our Club as President this year.  Group pictures were made followed by a “Chinese Gift Swap.”  Gifts were brought for many needy children.
