Rose Garden Club Meets

The Rose Garden Club met Tuesday, November 2, 2010 for an afternoon of fall beauty and delicious refreshments.
Rena Alford introduced our speaker, Mr. Chip Alford of Latta, and he holds a Bachelor of Landscape Designs Architecture.  The Tree Factors to consider- the tree’s purpose, the size and location, crown form or shape.  Select the right tree and plant it in the right place.
Eunice Stephens reported this year’s Essay Contest topic is “The Environment- Our Personal Responsibility.”
Expenditures unanimously approved by quorum on October 4, 2010: $20 for 2 ornaments for state Christmas tree, $100 for Camp Wildwood, $110 for 100 Master Gardener Daffodils (NGC Golden Days project), $24 for Master Gardener Hyacinths for Garden Therapy plantings for retired club members- Plant it Pink (Jonnie Snyder), Golden days (Kalli Norton), Friendships (J. McLaurin), Daffodils for the USA
Nina Lee Garden needs daffodils!
Birthdays this month are Lina Dubose and Terri Holliday on November 11,and Virginia Watson on November 27.
Our next meeting will be Monday, December 6, 10:55 a.m., at Main Street United Methodist Church for Eunice’s treat and Hazel’s Christmas program.
Upcoming dates are November 18, 10 a.m., Clean up Welcome Center Garden; November 18, 4-7 p.m., Glove and Trowel Chili Supper; November 28, State Christmas tree, Governor’s Carol Lighting Ceremony; December 2, 10 a.m., decorate downstairs parlor at Dillon House for Christmas; and December 3, Arbor Day Celebration at the Wellness Center.
The U.D.C., on Thursday, November 11, at 2 p.m., will place a wreath to honor Mr. Dillon at the courthouse monument.
