Services for Myrtle McPhatter Gibson were held 3:00 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Gibson, 83, died Saturday, November 13, 2010 at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon. Born in Laurinburg, NC, August 13, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Alex McPhatter and Mattie Bailey McPhatter. She was a member of East Dillon Baptist Church, was a homemaker, and was the widow of the late Grady Levon Gibson. Survivors include her sons, Larry (Marie) Gibson of Dillon, Jerry (Susan) Gibson of Galax, VA, Rudy (Debbie) Gibson of Florence, and Randy (Sheila) Gibson of Columbia; daughters, Diane (Joe) Page, and Tammy (James) Beverly both of Dillon; brother, Elbert Eugene “Pete” McPhatter of Bennettsville; beloved pets, Rock & Tiny; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gibson was preceded in death by her son, David Gibson; and her grandson, David Eugene Gibson.
