God’s Word Shines

The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.  Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the Lord; how much more the hearts of the children of man!- Proberbs 15:3, 11
There is a popular commercial which says, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”  The slogan would have listeners believe if they go to Las Vegas, they will be so far from  home no one would know about all the bad things they do.  It teaches people they can sin without consequence or discovery.
Many today believe it is acceptable to do anything, even bad things, as long as no one knows.  Teens will go on a senior cruise or a spring break getaway and act foolish, because they know mom and dad will probably never find out.  Business people will lie to make a sale because the customer will never know the truth.  Some spouses secretly cheat on one another.  Many secretly view pornography on computers and television.
The Bible teaches man about the attributes of God.  One of these is that God is all-knowing.  This is called omniscience.  While the sinner may think he is getting away with his sin because no one knows, he is mistaken because God knows. There is never a time when no one is watching you.  If you have ever done something and hoped you would not get caught, then you need to be aware that you have been caught.  God saw what you did, and He even knew the rebellious condition of your heart (verse 11).
God is able to offer forgiveness of sin through repentance and faith in His Son, Jesus.  God punished Jesus for the sin of all mankind when He died on the cross.  God raised Jesus from the dead because He had never sinned.  Because Jesus is alive, and because He is God, He is able to hear your prayer and accept you into the family of God.
If this is your desire then, right now, ask Jesus for His forgiveness.  Here is prayer to help you: “God, I believe Jesus is Your Son, and He died to pay for my sin.  I believe Jesus is alive.  Today I turn to Jesus for forgiveness.  Jesus, I accept Your payment for my sin.  I surrender my life to You to serve You from this day forward.  Jesus, You are my King, my Lord, my Savior.  Amen.”
